"Tubbie" 2001
Private Collection
Tubbie is my first Oamaru stone sculpture.
Using the stone was a bit unnerving for me at first as I was told by my tutor at the time "once you remove a piece of stone, you can't put it back again!"
I prefer using Oamaru Stone as a medium as it has beautiful colouring and natural markings.
At times it is a challenge working with this medium as it can be brittle and areas break off when you don’t want them to but I find in most cases that works in my favour.
When it comes to finishing a piece I tend to coat them with a medium that reduces moss growth when displayed outside, this is an option when I create commissions.

Life is an evolving and on-going energy of inspiration and creativity. No matter what happens; challenges, travel, adventures or celebrations during a lifetime, everything and everyone inspires me.
